The Musical memories: Present Perfect ??

Suddenly I found a page from www.wordpress.com where I have got some comments form some known and unknown people. Here is a link of the page:

http://ifellows2006.wordpress.com/fellows/dripta-piplai/

Also another link of my songs (noise and talks in between are to be ignored) from www.esnips.com which was recorded and uploaded by my friend Arundhati from Mysore, India. You can get lots of 'deviations' here, and I do not know how to define deviation in Rabindrasangeet. Most of the songs were learnt from my Gitabitan days. A few learnt by 'listening'only, and one or two from 'Rabimanjusha', New Delhi. After sometimes, I joined Rabitirtha, special class of my 'idol' Suchitra Mitra. Unfortunately, this recording does not have a single song which I had learnt from Suchitradi's class-as the recordings were done before I joined the institute.
My experience in Rabitirtha was very different from that of Gitabitan. It is not because of the time or maturity, the main reason was my identity was quite different there. I was a totally unnoticed student sitting at a corner of the class, observing a new zone of power-game inside the class. As I was a gradute from a different music school, I got an advantage of being unnoticed. Have a plan for working on the issues of my interest on Tagore songs again, some day..and I'm sure that my experience of being the 'topper of Gitabitan' to 'back bencher of Rabitirtha' will surely help me to move into a deeper area of the less-researched domains.

I have forwarded the link to some of my friends who like to listen to my songs, but those of you couldn't get the link may click on the following:

These are two photographs taken by me from our hostel. You can see the instance of Commonwealth Games Stadium at our University from a picture. The stadium is located just opposite 'Meghdoot', my hostel. And for the construction, the Meghdoot marg is closed now, we are surviving with the waters given by Delhi Jal Borad(the water connection was damaged). And the area where you can see the bricks and rods was the land of garden committee, there was a small pond.

The other photograph is taken from another side of the hostel(Block 1). Sunset.

Back from Lissim

We are back from LISSIM and I am suffering from 'nostalgia'.

This year we had a really really good workshop. Enjoyed a lot. Could see the tall pine trees from the classroom. :-)Heaven!

Missed Ayesha a lot. And now missing Kajri-the dog, Missile (Misi) -the cat..:-(

Delhi heat is reminding of Kausani..again and again..

On Hibernation

trying to sleep inside a hole, where the rest of the world cannot reach..
trying to explore in the dark, the meaning of darker darkness..
trying to walk alone, beside a seashore..
trying to sink into myself..
trying to hibernate.

I have now joined as a consultant at the Education Resource center of 'Shikshamitra'-the alternative school in Calcutta and having nice time with lots of children and their books :-)

My primary task here is to be involved with curriculum-planning related works, preparing materials for teaching from the stories written by the children etc.

I am also visiting the schools of Swanirvar at some rural areas of Bengal and assessing the class, teachers and students as well.

Learning many things form the children, hope to learn at the future too..
I left my job at the University. The situation was quite surprising.University Grants Commission was not providing us with salary for last two months, and it was difficult to cope up with the infrastructure, too.
Suddenly I was asked to return back my HRA for last one year (the amount is not so little), without any written document !!!!!!

The behaviour of the authorities was very peculiar! and I HAD TO RETURN BACK THE MONEY !!!

I Am trying to get the 'real story' from UGC's fairyland. Hope, I'll get my answer soon. :-)

But I am discouraging all sincere researchers to join or be involved with any sort of research work with the University of Calcutta-for a next few years.
